Designer Profile:
Charles and Ray Eames

Charles & Ray Eames Bio:
Charles and Ray Eames are the most celebrated designers of the 20th century, a husband and wife team that made so many of the iconic chairs of the 20th century. The Iconic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman, which was a breakthrough in design at the time, is still today as popular as ever. Charles Eames was an American filmmaker, architect and furniture designer. A little known fact about Eames is that much of his work was influenced by Finnish Architect, Eliel Saarinen, whose son Eero (of the Tulip Arm Chair fame) would later become a good friend of Eames and partner in several collaborative works. Eames & Saarinen met at the famous Cranbrook Academy in Michigan and experimented with the use of moulded plywood.
